Arab leaders divided over policies toward Israel and Palestine
The two-day summit that ended Tuesday couldn't resolve differences among Arab leaders over their policies toward Israel and Palestine. The Arab summit in Kuwait was planned by Arab leaders to resolve various issues out of which the recent fighting in Gaza needed urgent attention. Arab leaders agreed to formulate a plan to help in rebuilding Gaza.
Differences over the three-week Israeli offensive that killed more than 1,300 people revealed the political tensions between two groups, one allied to Egypt and Saudi Arabia while other allied to Syria and Qatar.
Amr Moussa, secretary-general of the Arab League, said, "The summit is holding Israel legally responsible for war crimes it committed and for taking the necessary action to pursue those who committed the crimes."
