Bomb explosion in south-eastern Nepal injure six Kathmandu - At least six people were injured when a powerful explosion ripped through a mosque in south-eastern Nepal, media reports said Sunday.

The blast targeted the mosque at Hattimuda village in Morang district, about 400 kilometres south-east of the capital, during evening prayers on Saturday night, the Kathmandu Post newspaper reported.

The newspaper said unidentified assailants threw the bomb into the mosque and fled.

The mosque was packed with people and most of the injured sustained shrapnel injuries.

Dutch tourist dies after falling into ravine Kathmandu - A Dutch tourist died after falling several metres down a narrow ravine in western Nepal, media reports said Sunday.

Peter Ross, 49, fell near the western town of Pokhara, about 200 kilometres west of Kathmandu, Saturday afternoon, Nepal Samacharpatra newspaper reported.

The newspaper said Ross fell some 30 metres into the ravine caused by river erosion on the ground while photographing the surrounding areas.

There are several similar ravines in the area hidden by tall grass making them difficult to see.

Nepalnews quoted Minister for Information and Communication Krishna Bahadur Mahara as saying that the government team will be led by Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Janardan Sharma Prabhakar and will include two other members - Minister for Local Development Ram Chandra Jha and Minister for Education Renu Yadav.

Nepal government invites rebels groups for talks Kathmandu - Nepal's Maoist-led government has called on dozens of armed groups operating across the country for talks to end hostilities, official reports said Saturday.

Most of the armed rebel groups are based in the southern Nepalese plains known as Terai and are demanding a greater political voice and ethnic rights.

A few of the groups have also demanded a separate state with the right to self determination for ethnic Madhesi communities.

Ex-Nepalese King Gyanendra meets Indian Spiritual guru

King Gyanendra, NepalKathmandu, Oct 2 : Former Nepalese King Gyanendra Shah on Thursday met visiting Indian guru Jagadguru Kripaluji Maharaj at a Hindu religious sanctuary, Shyama-Shyam Dham, at Thimi in Bhaktapur district.

According to reports, both held spiritual discussions during their ten minute meeting.

This was King Gyanendras’ first public visit as a civilian after being dethroned from the county’s centuries-old institution of monarchy.

While talking to media persons, the former King wished for the peace in the country.
