Nepal Maoist Central Committee meet postpone for a month

Nepal FlagKathmandu, Oct 7 : The Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-M) on Tuesday postponed its Central Committee (CC) meeting for a month.

It was decided at a meeting today, which was held for a short time, Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal gave brief answers to the questions raised by the central members on the political report tabled by him.

Girija Prasad Koirala vows to bring Nepali Congress back to its pre-election form

Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad KoiralaKathmandu, Oct 7: Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala has claimed that he will bring the party back to its pre-election form within just three months.

Speaking to party workers here on Monday, Koirala said he was confident that the party would regain its lost strength within that time.

He said that he was not yet ready to transfer leadership to what is known within the Congress party as second generation, saying he would not retire unless the party regained its old form.

Nepal gets a new Kumari

Nepal gets a new KumariKathmandu  - Nepal's main living goddess known as Kumari of Kathmandu city is set to be replaced after the incumbent came of age, official reports said Monday.

Matina Shakya, 3, will be installed as the Kumari of Kathmandu on Tuesday coinciding with the Hindu festival of Dashain, the official Gorkhapatra newspaper said.

As part of the tradition, Matina, along with her parents were introduced to Nepalese President Ram Baran Yadav to seek his approval.

Traditionally, Nepalese kings gave the final go ahead for the chosen girl to be installed as the living goddess.

Sustainable political conversion impossible without cultural change in Nepal, says Prachanda

Kathmandu, Oct 5 : Nepal Prime Minister PrachandaNepal Prime Minister Prachanda has said that the political transformation cannot become sustainable and long-lasting without cultural transformation.

Speaking at the inaugural programme of the newly constructed building of Rastriya Nach Ghar here on Saturday, Prachanda said the political transformation would become handicapped and short-lived unless the cultural change process spreads out.

Addressing a mass gathering following a concert programmes organised by Republicans Artistes Forum at Dashrath Stadium here on Saturday, Dr. Yadav called for political unity and cooperation in order to sustain peace and democracy.

He said that Nepal could become a rich country if the resources available here were utilised and distributed in a scientific manner.

Madhav Kumar Nepal urges coalition partners to ensure full term of Government

Kathmandu, Oct 5 : Former UML General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal urged the coalition partners to create an environment of trust in order to make sure that the current government survives its full-term - two years.

Nepal''s statement comes after the claim of some Nepali Congress leaders that the Maoist-led coalition government would collapse due to dispute among the ruling parties.

He said that Maoist leadership must control the unruly activities of its youth wing Young Communist League (YCL).

Stating that no political principles can be established in Nepali society unless status of people is improved, he termed the Maoist proposal of People''s Republic as untimely and inappropriate at this time.
