Islamabad, Apr.17 : Pakistan was rocked by 1,842 incidents of terrorism during a fourteen month period from January 2008 to March 2009, an Interior Ministry report has revealed.

These shocking figures were presented to the National Assembly during Question Hour, reports the Dawn.

Islamabad, Apr. 17: The head of the radical Lal Masjid (Red Mosque), which was stormed by Pakistani troops in 2007, led thousands of his followers in a Friday prayer meeting and called for the enforcement of Islamic laws across the militancy-plagued country.

Islamabad, Apr. 17 : To justify their peace deal with the Taliban in the Swat Valley, the Pakistan Government has termed global concerns over the deal with militant over as “premature.”

“The peace accord has the backing of the National Assembly and a vast majority of the people, and it will help bring about peace and prosperity in the region,” The Nation quoted Pakistan’s Foreign Office Spokesman Abdul Basit, as saying.

Basit admitted that Pakistan had differences with the United States over the drone attacks on its territory.

Islamabad  - A pro-Taliban cleric reiterated his pledge Friday to struggle "till death" for enforcement of Islamic sharia law across Pakistan, asking his supporters to be ready for sacrifices.

"The more sacrifices we offer, the more quickly Islam will spread," Maulana Abdul Aziz stressed in his Friday sermon at Islamabad's Red Mosque, which was brimming with people, including hundreds of students from local Islamic seminaries.

Islamabad - Pakistani authorities on Thursday freed the hard-line cleric at Islamabad's radical Red Mosque, Maulana Abdul Aziz, a day after the Supreme Court granted him bail.

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Asadullah Faiz told German Press Agency dpa that police had been withdrawn from Aziz's residence in the garrison city of Rawalpindi.
