Onboard Air India One, Oct. 1: Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh returned this morning after completing a hectic and significant ten-day visit to the United States and France, during which he managed to see through the US Congress, the passage of the US-India civil nuclear cooperation deal and the signing of a historic civil nuclear cooperation pact with France.
Paris, Sept. 30 : India and France today signed a long term agreement for the Utilization of the Indian Polar Satellite launch vehicle for launching satellites.
The agreement was signed ahead of talks between Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and French President Nicholas Sarkozy here.
The Chairman of Antrix Corporation, the commercial arm of the Indian Space research Organisation (ISRO) Dr. G Madhvan Nair and the CEO of Astrium, the French space organization, François Auque signed the pact.
The two companies have been already cooperating in the field of space activities.
Kandhamal (Orissa), Sept 30: At least three people were killed and several were injured when the police opened fire to disperse the violent mob in Orissa’s Kandhmal District today.
Police opened fire when a 500-strong mob of women attacked the Raikia police station demanding release of two tribals arrested in connection with communal riots.
According to sources, the local tribals have blocked all roads to Raikia by placing logs of trees and boulders to prevent entry of additional police forces.
On Monday, a dead body was found floating in a river near Raikia region of Orissa.
New Delhi - At least five people were killed and 95 injured in two bomb attacks carried out by suspected terrorists in two communally-sensitive towns in western India, media reports said Tuesday.
Four people died and 80 were injured in a blast near a mosque in Malegaon town of Maharashtra state, some 260 kilometres north-east of the capital Mumbai on Monday night, the NDTV news channel reported.

Mamata said that she will submit all papers to the UPA chairperson on the agreement that provides for return of maximum land from within the Tata Motors car project site at Singur to "unwilling" land-losers, signed in the presence of state Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi on September 7.
