Presidential convoy not target of attack in Chhatisgarh: President Office

ChhattisgarhNew Delhi, Sept 29 : The President''s office has clarified that there has been no attack on the convoy of President Pratibha Devisingh Patil, during her visit to Chhattisgarh today, as reported by some sections of the media.

A Rashtrapati Bhawan Spokesperson on Monday said that the President was not traveling by road as she travelled from Chitrakut to Raipur by helicopter.

President Patil visited the famous Chitrakoot water fall in the Bastar District of Chhattisgarh today.

The President is on a two-day visit to the State which began on Sunday.

Dinosaur’s fossil discovered in Chhattisgarh district

Raipur, Sep. 22 : A fossil, estimated to be 60 centimetres long, has reportedly been discovered in a private house in Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari District.

The head of the discovered structure is nine centimetres in size, while the forefeet and rear feet are 8 centimetres and 25 centimetres in size respectively.

"The skin and the teeth of the specimen is intact and it is an extraordinary finding. This seems to be a reptile or a predecessor of dinosaurs," said Dr. Kenny of the Indian Forest Services. 

Wild jumbos causing havoc in Chhattisgarh villages

Bahalpur (Koria) (Chhattisgarh) , Sep. 21 : Several villagers in Chhattisgarh’s Koria district are faced with elephants’ terror in their residential areas since herds of elephants have caused havoc in their lives. These elephants have also become a major nuisance for the State authorities here.

Villagers complain, herds of elephants keep rampaging their stocks of crops and property.

At the Bahalpur Village, herds of wild elephants have caused massive losses to the local residents ever since the jumbos have fancied the standing crops of rice fields.

Also, in the process, these elephants have literally caused stampede by destroying farmers’ cottages and even pulling down well-built houses.

Six police killed in Maoist attack in central India

ChhattisgarhNew Delhi  - At least six policemen were killed Friday in a landmine blast triggered by suspected Maoist rebels in the central Indian state Chhattisgarh, a news report said.

The incident occurred on a state highway in the southern Narayanpur district when a team from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was conducting an operation against the Maoists.

CRPF spokesman Ajay Chaturvedi told the PTI news agency the vehicle carrying the CRPF team was destroyed in the explosion and most of the policemen died on the scene.

Six paramilitary personnel killed in Chhattisgarh landmine blast

CRPF jawan dies in encounter with Naxals in GayaNarayanpur (Chhattisgarh), Aug 29 : Six personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), including an inspector, were killed in a landmine blast in Chhattisgarh''s Narayanpur District on Friday.

According to CPRF sources, the blast occurred around 11:00 a. m. as the CRPF team was heading towards Narayanpur from Konda for an anti-naxalite operation.

Search operations have been launched to nab Maoists who have claimed responsibility for the blast.
