After the superstar Salman Khan made news for smoking in public places, Ajay Devgan too has came under the arc lights for smoking in public zone in Chandigarh.

Both Sallu and Ajay came to Chandigarh on Monday for the shooting of Vipul Shah’s upcoming film ‘London Dreams’.  

Following complaints by environmentalists and social activists, the Chandigarh Police has challaned Ajay for breaking the ban on public smoking in the city, which takes its first ‘no smoking tag’ more seriously.

New Delhi/Chandigarh, Jan 3 : A cold wave swept through North India on Saturday with temperatures plummeting and fog disrupting transport in New Delhi and Chandigarh.

New Delhi was gripped by dipping temperatures coupled with dense fog, making life difficult for people.

The minimum temperature fell to 4 degrees Celsius on Friday, one of the coldest winter mornings of the season.

Mukhesh Kumar Dixit, a rickshaw puller, who woke up at around 5:00 in the morning, was unable to bear the winter chill. He said his hands were freezing and that he would not be able to work in such weather.

Chandigarh, Dec. 31 : Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma on Wednesday said that Pakistan should come out of denial mode and bring the perpetrators of the Mumbai terror attacks to justice.

"It''ll be good that if the acknowledgement is forthright. This fact is known to the world that where the perpetrators (of Mumbai terror attacks) came from, where those organisations are based, the conspirators which have been identified and named. And instead of being in denial, Pakistan should take effective steps to bring to justice the conspirators and funders," said Sharma at a press conference here today.

A former mayor and top congress leaders of Chandigarh requested the Punjab's Governor and UT administrator, S F Rodrigues to go on leave to allow free and fair probe of the embezzlement cases pertaining to some mega projects in the city. The Governor and his advisor are alleged of offering various projects to the big business houses by flouting all norms and rules.

Chandigarh, Dec 18 : Members of the England Cricket team went on a shopping spree here last evening.

The players are in the city for their second test against India to be played at Mohali on December 19.

Taking a break from their practice session, the players decided to unwind by indulging in shopping at Chandigarh.

Accompanied by police personnel, the players browsed through the shops and checked out the merchandise to their heart''s content, much to the locals'' delight who gathered at the market to watch their cricketing heroes.

Chandigarh, Dec. 17 : England coach Peter Moores has defended the bowling of Monty Panesar, who failed to nab wicket in India's second innings in the Chennai Test that concluded on Monday.

"I have sympathy for Monty. He probably hasn''t played in a competitive game for three months. We didn''t have a warm-up game and that is difficult for a spinner who wants to bowl some overs in match conditions," The Independent quoted Moores, as saying.
