All party Karnataka leaders to meet EC today in Bangalore

Chief Election Commissioner N. GopalaswamiBangalore, Mar 4: A full bench of the Election Commission (EC) comprising Chief Election Commissioner N. Gopalaswami and the two Election Commissioners will meet top Karnataka leaders from various political parties here today to hear their views on the timing of state assembly polls.

Major political parties are divided over the timing of the elections, even as the state is put under President’s Rule.

The BJP and JD (S) are likely to submit memorandums to the EC bench urging it not to delay the polls beyond May.

Election Commission to arrive in Bangalore today

Bangalore, Mar 3: Chief Election Commissioner N. GopalaswamiChief Election Commissioner (CEC) N. Gopalaswami alongwith two Election Commissioners Dr. S Y Qureshi and Navin Chawla will arrive here today to review preparations of electoral rolls.

On Tuesday, the team will meet Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer Rama Seshan, Chief Secretary Sudhakar Rao and the state’s top officials. Besides reviewing electoral rolls revision, they will also evaluate redrawing of constituencies.

According to the delimitation commissions report, redrawing of constituencies has been completed in Haveri, Chamarajanagar and Kodagu districts.
