Washington, March 5 : A genetic study, conducted by a University of Adelaide researcher, has discovered that there are many more species of Australian lizards than previously thought, raising new questions about conservation and management of Australia's native reptiles.

The study, done by Paul Oliver, a PhD student from the University's School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, focused on the Australian gecko genus Diplodactylus and found more than twice the recognised number of gecko species, from 13 species to 29.

Melbourne, Mar 5 : Australian cricketer Glenn McGrath's wife Jane will be posthumously honoured for her contribution in raising awareness of breast cancer.

Jane, who lost her own battle with cancer in June last year, will be honoured on international Women's Day on March 8.

She and husband Glenn co-founded the McGrath Foundation to raise money for breast cancer nurses and to raise awareness about the disease in 2002.

New South Wales Premier Nathan Rees announced in the parliament that Jane would receive the first Special Recognition Award.

Melbourne, Mar. 4 : Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland has said Australia is ready to host the 2011 World Cup.

"Officially, we are the standby hosts for the 2011 World Cup -- our strong preference is for the event to go ahead in Asia, hosted by the countries that the ICC sees fit," Sutherland said.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) was doubtful over holding World Cup 2011 in Pakistan, saying that the Lahore attacks had changed the global scenario of the game.
