Melbourne, February 19 : Facebook is trying to woo back abandoning members after it made changes to its user Terms of Service (TOS) that have now been reversed.

The social-networking giant had come under fire after Consumer advocacy blog The Consumerist reported that the revised policy allowed the website to hold a perpetual license to use its members' uploaded content to promote itself, even after their accounts had been deleted.

Following the firestorm, the free-access site is now displaying an apology for the reorganized TOS, saying the changes made were a "mistake".

Facebook further assured its users that they held the ownership of material posted by them, reports News. com. au.

Melbourne, Feb 19 : In a major breakthrough towards rebuilding broken bones, Aussie scientists have created a synthetic biomaterial that encourages the body to create bone on its own.

The biomaterial created by researchers at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and Stryker Australia could probe top be an answer to successful bone grafts and treating bone disease.

Dr Cameron Lutton of QUT said that the biomaterial activates the initial stages of bone healing by encouraging the body''s natural clotting process, thus promoting bone growth.

"The biomaterial interacts with blood and mimics early bone healing events," ABC Online quoted Lutton as saying.

Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting said that his inexperienced side would do all it can to hang on to their number one spot when they would take on South Africa in the upcoming test series.

Speaking with the reporters, Ponting said, “We have had quite a few injuries, but we have brought a fully fit squad to South Africa. We always enjoy playing here. The conditions are fairly similar to those at home, and we know the series will be challenging. We just hope Australia come out on top this time.”

Brisbane, Feb. 18 : Controversial Indian-born surgeon, Dr. Jayant Patel, who is currently facing a committal hearing into allegations of manslaughter over the deaths of two patients, had "unrealistic expectations" about what surgery could safely be performed at Queensland's Bundaberg Base Hospital, whistleblower nurse Toni Hoffman has told a court here.

In a 47-page statement tendered as evidence in the Brisbane Magistrates Court, Hoffman said she made her first complaint about the surgeon shortly after he started work at the hospital in April 2003.

Hoffman said she believed major procedures were too complex for Patel to be performing at the hospital because it lacked the appropriate post-operative care facilities.

Melbourne, Feb 18 : U2 vocalist Bono has revealed that his band members fear that his political campaigning and charity work might dissolve the Irish group.

The 48-year-old singer admitted that his band members guitarist The Edge, bass player Adam Clayton and drummer Larry Mullen Jr. are against his political and charity work.

"It''s dangerous. And it worries Larry, and it worries the whole band, if truth be told," The Herald Sun quoted him as saying.
