Water logging due to heavy rains disrupts life in APVijayawada (Andhra Pradesh), Aug 10 : Heavy downpour has thrown life out of gear in Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh. Incessant rains have brought entire region to a near standstill with water logging on many major crossroads.

People were seen driving out water from their inundated houses using buckets. Movement had been restricted in the city as roads were flooded with rain water.

A woman and her child died after the wall of their house collapsed following the rains.

Indian Hume Pipe has selected Chillamuthur, in the Anantpur district for its first plant and the Karnool district for its second plant.

These two plants will entail a total amount of Rs 200 million for their construction.

Train services restored after yesterday’s fire in Gautami Express

Hyderabad, Aug 2 : Train services between the Warangal and Mehboobabad sections in Andhra Pradesh have been restored today, after Gautami Express caught fire on early Friday morning resulting in over 30 deaths.

The number of people who lost their lives is still not clear as the bodies were charred badly and only the skull count indicated that over 30 people have died.

According to sources, the authorities were trying to identify the victims with the help of forensic teams while the passenger charts have revealed that 32 passengers have gone missing.

13 passengers killed as train catches fire in southern India

New Delhi - At least 13 passengers were charred to death and six injured Friday when a fire broke out in a moving train in India's southern state of Andhra Pradesh, officials said.

The fire broke out in one of the coaches of the Gautami Express and spread to four other compartments as the train moved through the northern district of Warangal.

"The fire completely gutted the coaches," said AK Saxena, chief spokesman of the Indian Railways.

"The death toll could rise as three of the wounded are in a serious condition," he said.

The victims included a pregnant woman and three physically disabled people. The injured were rushed to government hospitals for treatment.
