RBI cover sought in by bankers for CBI probe into 2G scam
The banks have now interfered into the 2G scam, and have commented that the CBI should go on and do proper investigation of the scam and give a proper estimate of the loss incurred to the government as it will be causing disturbances in their functionality if not properly investigated.
The lobby of the bankers, Indian Banks' Association, headed by State Bank of India Chairman Om Prakash Bhatt seeks the intermediation of RBI in the case and inquiry. The banks have warned that any loose ends in the probe will hurt the economic growth as the banks will run away from funding any big projects.
A. Raja, the prime accused in the case, has still not given proper details about the deals made and thus causing delays in probe. The Supreme Court's intervention time and again is keeping the case alive but needs to quickly reach on a decision. The speed of the probe is demoralizing the banks and giving more power to the suspects. The banks have sought for RBI cover from the CBI till the probe is completed.
