Rawalpindi Express’ Is Back!

The Rawalpindi Express, Shoaib Akhtar will make a comeback, as the player Rawalpindi Express’ Is Back!was named in a 15-man Pakistan squad, for the T20 Canada tournament which will take place amongst four nations in Toronto this month.

Shoaib who was banned by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for five years can now play for his nation as the ban was temporarily lifted by the Lahore High Court. The paceman has not been able to play this year due to PCB’s decision. 

The ban which was for five years was reduced to 18 months by a tribunal but the player had to pay a fine of 7million rupees. Shoaib filed his case at Lahore High Court which lifted the ban though temporarily. 

The bowler was given consent to be included in the Canada tournament series that will have Canada, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and Pakistan contending with each other.

On this the chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed said, "We have included Akhtar after clearance from the PCB." In the final list of the team, Shoaib was named as the captain of the team that will have newcomers like Khalid Latif, Shoaib Khan and Anwar Ali while Mohammad Yousuf held probable earlier was dropped.
