Rajni Seeks To End Controversy Over Hogenekkal Comments
The south-Indian superstar Rajnikanth thinks that life is all about learning, and it’s never too late to learn anything. His comment came to end the controversy which came to existence with the actor’s comments on the Hogenekkal issue created in April. The Superstar feels that he had not spoken with clarity on the issue and it was not right on his part to do so. The comment passed by the actor that those who sought to block the due share of Hogenekkal water to Tamil Nadu should be punished, had raised a big controversy and threatened to stall the release of his film ‘Kuselan’ in Karnataka.
At a function organized to distribute financial assistance to 70 technicians of ‘Kuselan’, the actor addressed the media by reporting, “I don't want to fuel speculation. In that day's speech I had said “we should kick them.” I should have been clearer. Had I said whoever indulges in violence should be kicked, this problem would not have occurred. This is an experience for me, and it is never too late to learn.”
The Tamil actors including Sarath Kumar and Satyaraj criticized the statement passed by Rajnikanth on the evening of ‘Kuselan’, which was telecasted on television on the same day. The Tamil actors feel that Rajnikanth had let down the Tamils. But trying to put a full stop on the issue, director K Balachander said that everyone should forget about what all had happened and just move on. He also added, “The fame of Kamal Hassan and Rajnikanth go beyond state borders. At a time when Tamil films are going to be discussed worldwide, let us not build walls between us.”
