Brisbane, Mar. 24 (ANI): Queensland Bulls skipper Chris Simpson has defended Australian all rounder and team mate Andrew Symonds, lashing out at suggestions that the latter was out of control at an inner-city bar and restaurant on Sunday night.

Simpson was among those out with Symonds at swish bar Watt in New Farm when they were asked to leave the premises at around 9 p. m.

Newspaper reports suggested that Symonds was "loud" and "boisterous" and had smashed a glass before getting the tap on the shoulder from bar staff.

Simpson has strongly denied those suggestions, saying the group, which also included Symond''s girlfriend Kate Johnson, behaved in an appropriate manner.

"As far as I am concerned, we were responsible across the evening. It was a few players and their partners and a chance to have a social catch-up after the season. We were enjoying ourselves as a group and when management politely approached us to ask us to finish up, we did so. We left without incident and went home," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Simpson, as saying.

"Reports that Andrew broke a glass are wrong and personally I don''t consider that he was loud and boisterous. If management asked us to leave, then they are well within their rights to ask that of any patron. I''ve got no issue with that," he added.

Queensland Cricket chief executive Graham Dixon said there would be no sanctions or further investigations. (ANI)
