Geneva  - Though the biggest issue of Sunday's Swiss referendum was the open market and free movement agreements with Europe, other issues were also at stake, including a proposal to scrap a unique tax break for wealthy foreigners in Zurich.

Local media reported Monday that some 53 per cent of voters in Zurich, the financial hub of the Alpine country, voted to do away with a system that enabled wealthy foreigners to pay taxes as a lump sum, based on their home expenses and not their income.

Baghdad  - Official results from January's provincial elections in Iraq will be ready within two weeks, the country's electoral commission announced Monday.

"The deadline for the announcement of elections results will be two weeks from today," Faraj al-Haidari, the head of Iraq's Independent High Electoral Commission announced on Monday. "But we will do our best to announce them even earlier than that."

Mysore (Karnataka), Feb. 9 : Angry Bharatiya Janata Party supporters protested here on Saturday against the Deputy Commissioner Manivannan for allegedly making a false announcement about the death of former prime minister and BJP leader Atal Behari Vajpayee this past week.

Lucknow, Feb 9 : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati, on Monday said that Bharatiya Janat Party''s Ayodhya chants were nothing but an `election gimmick', as the party remembers Lord Rama only when the poll are around.

"The BJP thinks of Ram temple only when polls are around. But, the public knows about its real face. Even saints are ridiculing the party," Mayawati told reporters in Lucknow.

New Delhi, Feb 8 : Addressing a Congress party summit here on Sunday, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee cautioned the Pakistan Government to punish the terrorists involved in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

Referring to the promises by the Pakistan Government to bring the perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks to justice, Mukherjee warned the neighboring country not to divert from its commitment on this grave issue.

He clarified that the fight against terrorism was not against any religion.
