Delhi High Court restricts GAIL officers from going on strikeNew Delhi: On Tuesday, the Delhi high court restricted the officers of public sector gas supplier company GAIL (India) from going on indefinite strike for increasing wages from Wednesday. In a petition, GAIL (India) submitted that the proposed strike by the officers was also against a Supreme Court order. Justice Anil Kumar restrained the executives of the company from going on strike as it would harm the fragile economy.

210 acres allotted by AP Govt for TIFR campus The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) has been allotted 210 acres of land on the University of Hyderabad campus, by the Andhra Pradesh Government, for setting up its second campus in the country.

TIFR is headquartered in Mumbai and is an autonomous Institute under the Department of Atomic Energy. With the aim to implement its plans for expansion of research, education and related activities with a projected investment of Rs 2500 crore over 12 years, TIFR had come up with the plan.

Pune doc taken under custody for links with Indian Mujaheedin Following a three month run, the Mumbai Police was finally able to arrest an MBBS doctor from Pune, a member of the Indian Mujaheedin (IM) module responsible for at least 11 blasts across the country since 2005. The accused is named Dr. Anwar Ali Bagwan and is 26 years old. IM was responsible for the July 11 2006 serial train blasts in Mumbai and serial blasts in Ahmedabad on July 26, 2008.

Police called negligent in South African foreigner attack Durban  - Police in South Africa are coming under fire for negligence in a weekend attack that led to two deaths and one serious injury in an apartment building next to a police station.

According to reports, 150 armed people stormed an apartment building inhabited by migrants in the port city of Durban from other parts of Africa. Those targeted were forced to jump from windows of the building in Albert Park.

Zimbabwe court adjourns appeal by "torture" seven Johannesburg/Harare  - A Zimbabwe court Wednesday adjourned to Thursday a case in which six members of the main opposition party and a freelance journalist accused of terrorism, banditry and insurgency were appealing against being placed on remand.

Alec Muchadehama, lawyer for the seven spent Wednesday arguing in court that his clients must not be remanded as they had been kidnapped and tortured. They could face the death penalty if convicted.
