BSP to contest all Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu

Bahujan Samaj PartyChennai, Mar 8 : Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) General Secretary and the party's coordinator for Kerala and Tamil Nadu Suresh Mane on Sunday said the party would field candidates in all 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu.

"Our party will contest all 40 seats, including the one in Puducherry. This is to show the political strength of BSP in Tamil Nadu," Mane said.

He said the party had already selected 12 candidates who would file their nominations for the polls, while the names of the other candidates would be announced in a phased manner later on.

BSP's Kunwar Devendra Singh to contest from Etah

Etah (Uttar Pradesh), Feb 28 : Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has declared sitting Etah MP Kunwar Devendra Singh as its candidate from the Etah parliamentary constituency.

Singh had left the Samajwadi Party on Friday and joined the BSP.

The BSP has gained six MPs from Samajwadi Party so far, the other ones being Shahid Siddiqui, who was elected to Rajya Sabha as Samajwadi Party candidate, Afzal Ansari from Ghazipur, Dhaniram Verma, Gauri Shanker, Kriti Vardhan Singh and Saif-ur-Rehman Barq.

Samajwadi Party sources claim that majority of the MPs left the party in recent times after being denied ticket for the coming Lok Sabha elections.

Mayawati says Sonia Gandhi’s birthday should be observed as ''Ghulami Diwas''

UP Chief Minister MayawatiLucknow, Jan. 15 : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Thursday used her 53rd birthday celebrations to urge her supporters to observe Congress president Sonia Gandhi's birthday as "Ghulami Diwas", or "Slavery Day".

Targetting each of her political rivals on the occasion, she also said that her predecessor and Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav''s birthday should be observed as "Dalal Diwas", or "Brokers' Day".

Engineer beaten to death for not paying for Mayawati's birthday celebrations

Public Works Department (PWD) engineer M K Gupta was beaten to death in Auraiya for refusing to pay for chief minister Mayawati's birthday celebrations. The state administration has denied the allegation.

According to sources, BSP MLA and his supporters tortured Gupta after he refused to pay Rs 50 lakh for the birthday celebrations of Chief Minister Mayawati on January 15. Marks of torture and electric shocks were found on the body.

According to Auraiya Additional SP Sureshwar, Gupta was unconscious when Tiwari left him at the police station before dawn. Gupta was declared dead when police took him to hospital. SHO Hoshiar Singh was later suspended for negligence.  

Engineer''s death sparks protest in Uttar Pradesh

BSP expels father-son duo Natwar Singh and Jagat Singh

Natwar SinghCharged with working against the principles and policies of the BSP - the party they joined in August this year - former external affairs minister, K Natwar Singh, and his son Jagat Singh, have been expelled from the party. BSP general secretary, Satish Chandra Mishra, charged Natwar Singh with "indiscipline" and indulging in "anti-party activities" after being denied Rajya Sabha nomination.
