Prince Harry takes first flying lesson

London, November 19: Prince Harry, who is training to be a pilot in the British Army, reached for the sky to take his first flying lesson.

Lieutenant Wales, who served 77 days during the war torn Afghanistan, began his learning process by spending an hour and 10 minutes in a two-seater Slingsby Firefly fixed-wing plane with a civilian instructor at an Army Air Corps base.

The soldier prince, who was pulled out from the Afghan War after the media revealed his presence, is said to be ambitious about making a comeback on the frontline by hoping to train for the Apache death machine.

London, Nov 19 : Prince Harry took to the skies behind the controls of a plane for the first time to achieve his ambition of becoming an attack helicopter pilot.

The one hour ten minute sortie in a bright yellow T67 Firefly went brilliantly. Harry is currently undergoing four weeks of rigorous assessment with the Army Air Corps to decide whether he has the aptitude to fly a 35 million pound Apache.

Harry, 24, was starting a month-long assessment course in which he will clock up more than 13 hours in a bright yellow fixed-wing Slingsby Firefly, The Sun reported.

The lightweight plane is used to assess whether candidates have the natural coordination to become elite chopper pilots.

London, Nov 9 : Princes William and Harry have managed to raise just 1,500 pounds each for their much- publicised motorbike charity ride across Africa.

However, 83 other people on the same ride raised an average of 3,500 pounds each.

A representative for William and Harry confirmed that the charity donation was just 1,500 pounds each, but insisted the princes had raised the profile of the charity ride.

“The princes both donated the minimum required to take part but their presence on the ride, as with their support of other charities, raised its profile and we expect more riders to be taking part next year, so it raises more money indirectly,” the Mirror quoted the spokesman, as saying.

London, November 5: Prince Harry has given his support to a group of wounded war heroes who are preparing for an expedition to Mount Everest.

The third in line to the throne met dozens of British soldiers, both men and women, who suffered trauma or injury in Iraq and Afghanistan, at Devonport Naval Base in Plymouth, reports the Daily Star.

The 24-year-old promised to boost the confidence of the officers who were set to trek to a spot 18,370ft up the world’s highest peak next year.

The soldier prince also met with Royal Marine Ben McBean, who had lost an arm and leg in a landmine blast, and had been befriended by the royal on a plane whilst the two were returning home.
