Spain deports bin Laden son after denying political asylumMadrid - Spain on Saturday deported the son of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden who had spent almost a week in the country trying to get political asylum.

Omar bin Laden, 28, boarded a plane bound for Cairo on Saturday, Spain's Interior Ministry confirmed. Bin Laden's lawyer criticized the move, saying bin Laden was being removed for political reasons.

Bin Laden applied for asylum in Spain on Monday. He and his British wife, Zaina al-Sabah, 52, were in Madrid on a stopover for a flight from Cairo to Casablanca in Morocco.

Washington, Nov. 4 : An al-Qaeda propagandist who promised endless war against the United States was sentenced to life in prison on Monday by a Guantanamo Bay jury on 35 counts of solicitation to commit murder, providing material support for terrorism and conspiracy.

Ali Hamza al-Bahlul, a 39-year-old Yemeni, was the second person to be convicted by a military jury, the Washington Post reports.

The jury deliberated for four hours before convicting Bahlul and took less than an hour to hand out a life sentence.

Bahlul refused to defend himself at the weeklong trial and instructed his military attorney to remain silent throughout the proceedings, an order that the lawyer said he followed with great reluctance.

The results of the polls released on Friday manifested that confidence in Osama bin Laden to do the right thing regarding world affairs had also dropped, from 51 per cent in 2005 to 34 percent, Dawn reported. 

“On balance, more Pakistanis express a negative than a positive view of the Taliban and al-Qaeda,” the report said.

Osama Bin LadenIslamabad, Oct 9: If Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden was located in Pakistan, the country’s security forces would alone take action, and no outside forces would be allowed to breach Pakistan’s sovereignty, the country’s Information Minister Sherry Rehman has said.

She said that the NATO forces should share intelligence about Osama’s presence inside Pakistani territory, if any, after which, she promised, Pakistani security forces would pursue the target.
