“Pak alone to take action if Osama located in the country”
Islamabad, Oct 9: If Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden was located in Pakistan, the country’s security forces would alone take action, and no outside forces would be allowed to breach Pakistan’s sovereignty, the country’s Information Minister Sherry Rehman has said.
She said that the NATO forces should share intelligence about Osama’s presence inside Pakistani territory, if any, after which, she promised, Pakistani security forces would pursue the target.
“If our allies share intelligence with us over high-value targets we will pursue them on the ground. However, we will not allow anyone to challenge our sovereignty and no country should violate Pakistan’s territorial integrity,” the Daily Times quoted Sherry as saying in response to comments by US presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama.
While Obama has expressed wish to attack Pakistan in search for Qaeda and Taliban militants, McCain has said that if he became the US president, he would hold talks with Pakistan and allow it to take action in conjunction with US forces.
Over the past two weeks, Pakistan has emerged as one of the focal points during the presidential debates between Mc Cain and Obama. (ANI)
