Gujarat Multiplexes Not To Showcase Nandita’s ‘Firaaq’Actor-director Nandita Das' directorial debut ‘Firaaq’, which is scheduled for release in India on March 20, will not be screened in Gujarat's multiplexes.

Gujarat-based multiplex owners association said that their dispute with the distributor over profit sharing was the main reason for not showcasing the movie in the state.

Manubhai Patel, President, All Gujarat Multiplex Association, said, “It’s not clear yet. We have not finalised profit sharing with the distributor. We have to figure out the percentage.”

Bollywood, which has been an important part of ‘KaraFilm Festival’ each year since its beginning, did not attend this year’s celebrations because of Mumbai attacks. But, Nandita Das, who is famous in Pakistan for her character in ‘Ramchand Pakistani’, along with ace film maker Mahesh Bhatt, attended the festival.

The two of them are known to be the "oldest supporters" of the Kara festival.

Pakistani newspaper the News says in one of its reports that Das and Bhatt were welcome signs, and a massive statement of commitment from the neighbours across the border.
