Washington, Feb 11 : American actress Michelle Pfeiffer has revealed that she finds reaching 50 to be a very liberating experience.

Pfeiffer had turned 50 in 2008 and she admits that she did not have any fear of getting older.

"If you think hitting 40 is liberating, wait till you hit 50 - and I was surprised at how liberating it was," Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

"The anticipation of something is always much worse than the reality," she stated.

The other thing she likes about growing old, are the roles she gets to play.

Berlin  - Hollywood actress Michelle Pfeiffer does not complain about having younger men cast in the role of her leading men.

"My leading men get younger the older I get," said the 50-year-old actress, adding that there seems to be an aversion to casting her with men her age.

"Lucky for me, I don't really mind it," she said.

Pfeiffer was speaking at a press conference at the Berlin Film Festival marking the world premiere of British director Stephen Frears' Cheri.
