John Mccain makes a stopover visit to New Delhi

John McCainNew Delhi, Dec 2 : US senator John Mccain met Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh here on Tuesday, to show solidarity with India in the wake of terror attack in Mumbai.

McCain, a Republican Party leader was on his way from Iraq to Bangladesh and had a stop over in New Delhi.

U. S Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will also travel to India on Wednesday at the request of President George W. Bush in the wake of Mumbai attacks, the White House said on Sunday.

On Sunday, Bush called Manmohan Singh to again offer U. S. support and condolences for the victims and the families of those killed in the attacks.

PM is best suited for finance portfolio: Chidambaram

He would definitely control the Indian economy in the wake of the financial crisis.

Secretary General of Arab League meets Manmohan Singh

New Delhi, Dec 2 : Arab League General Secretary General Amre Moussa met Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh here today.

Moussa''s three-day visit to India is aimed at for pushing bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Moussa, who is the Secretary General of a 22-nation body, is also expected to meet External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee later in the day where both sides are expected to explore ways to enhance cooperation in energy, trade and investment sectors.

He is also expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at setting up an Arab-India Relations Forum, which would act as joint mechanism boosting cooperation on both sides.

India will leave no stone unturned to fight terror: PM

Manmohan SinghJaipur, Dec 1 : Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh said that no stone would be left unturned to fight terrorism while addressing a public rally here on Monday.

In the backdrop of the Mumbai terror attacks that killed at least 197 people and left 295 wounded, the issue of terrorism is bound to dominate the polls in Rajasthan.

“I also want to promise you that the Central Government will not leave any stone unturned in fighting terrorism. There is a request to all countrymen and political parties to help us in this fight against terrorism, and in maintaining law and order in the country,” said Dr. Singh.
