Manmohan SinghNew Delhi, Nov. 29 : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday met Defence Secretary Vijay Singh, the three Service Chiefs and Chiefs of Intelligence agencies and discussed the impact of the Mumbai attacks and how such incidents could be prevented in the future.

Defence Secretary Vijay Singh, Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta, Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor, Naval Chief Admiral Sureesh Mehta, Air Force Chief Air Marshal Homi Major, Coast Guard Director General Admiral R F Contractor and Intelligence Bureau Chief P C Haldar were present at the meeting.

Obama talks to Manmohan Singh, offers deepest condolences

New Delhi/Washington, Nov. 29 : US President-elect Barack Obama spoke over phone with Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Saturday and conveyed his deepest condolences to him for the victims who had died at the hands of terrorists in Mumbai over the last three days.

A release from the Prime Minister''s Office said that Dr. Singh apprised Obama about the latest situation prevailing in Mumbai, including the fact that the counter-terrorism operation has ended after more than 60 hours.

Obama, according to the PMO release, is said to have asserted that terrorism cannot defeat "India''s great democracy".

Manmohan Singh requests Gilani to send ISI chief to India

Manmohan SinghNew Delhi, Nov 28 : The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, on Friday requested his Pakistan counterpart Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to send Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lieutenant General Ahmed Shuja Pasha to India to share information about the Mumbai terror attacks.

Dr. Singh’s request was made during a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Gilani. Gilani had called to express his grief over the loss of lives in Mumbai.

He denounced the act of terrorism in Mumbai and assured Dr. Singh of his full cooperation.

Advani calls PM in the wake of firings in Mumbai

L K AdvaniLeader of the Opposition L K Advani spoke to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday night after the terrorist attack in Mumbai. The PM confirmed him that terrorists had attacked at five places in which at least 18 people were killed and 25 injured.

Advani called up Singh twice to find out details of the terror strikes in Mumbai.

The Prime Minister told Advani that incidents, including a bomb blast and firing, had taken place at five places across the commercial capital and 18 people had died while 25 had been injured in these attacks.

Mumbai terror: PM reviews situation

Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan SinghMumbai, Nov. 28: A high-level meeting has taken place in Mumbai to review the situation in the city in the wake of the planned and synchronized terrorist strikes attacks.

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, presided over the meeting. National Security Adviser M K Narayanan, top state government and police officials of Maharashtra, senior army, paramilitary and intelligence officials were also present at the meeting.

The meeting discussed immediate steps to be taken and also the measures to be taken in the long term to prevent such incidents.
