Gordon Brown meets Manmohan SinghNew Delhi, Dec 14 : British Prime Minister Gordon Brown met his Indian counterpart Dr. Manmohan Singh here today.

Both are understood to have discussed the situation in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks.

Senior officials including Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon and Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister TKA Nair were also present during the meeting.

Singh urges regional governments to act firmly against terrorism

Manmohan SinghNew Delhi - Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Saturday said governments in South Asia had a "moral duty" to take firm action against terrorism in the wake of November 26 attacks in Mumbai.

"In our region there is today growing awareness that terrorism and extremism pose a threat to democracy and development," Singh told an international conference in New Delhi.

"Governments and authorities in our region and elsewhere have therefore a moral duty to act firmly and quickly," he said.

Singh said that besides being the country''''s financial capital, 45 per cent of the country''''s total industrial production comes from Maharashtra . Therefore, it was all the more important that the people''''s confidence is restored quickly.

He directed that the State Intelligence machinery should be strengthened.

MTNL To Launch 3G Services Tomorrow

MTNL To Launch 3G Services TomorrowState-run telecom giant, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) would be the first telecom company to launch 3G services in India. Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh is expected to launch the third generation technology during the Indian Telecom Summit in New Delhi on Thursday. MTNL would initially provide free of cost services to high spending customers and soon extend to the general mobile users.
