PM Manmohan Singh visits AIIMS for tests

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh New Delhi, Mar 1 : The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Sunday underwent tests as part of a planned post-operative assessment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

His results were stated to be `quite satisfactory'.

"The Prime Minister went to AIIMS to undergo tests as part of a planned post-operative assessment. Preliminary test results are quite satisfactory," a PMO spokesperson said.

According to hospital officials, Dr. Singh came at about 12.15 PM and left within 15 minutes.

In a statement, read out by External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee in the Lok Sabha, Singh, who is recuperating from a cardiac bypass surgery, said," Today we are addressing the global downturn with the same resolve and imagination. Let me assure this House, that India would emerge the least affected among the countries of the world from the current economic crisis."

PM fit to resume work

Manmohan SinghNew Delhi, Feb 22 : A month after undergoing coronary heart surgery, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is now fit to resume his duties, doctors attending on him said.

"The Prime Minister''s four weeks recovery time is over. Four weeks mean there is good amount of healing. He is now more or less independent and can resume work," Dr Vijay D''silva, ICU specialist attending Dr. Singh said.

Dr. Singh was admitted in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on January 24, where an angiography-X-ray examination of the blood vessels was conducted on him.

Complimenting acting Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee for his budget speech, Dr. Singh said," The Interim budget is a fine balancing act between the need to restore the economy to its optimum growth path and the constitutional constraints of a pre-election budget.

"I have no doubt that the continued stimulus for the various flagship programmes of the Government will provide relief to all sections - specially the ''Aam Aadmi," he added.
