Paswan, Lalu meet after Congress mulls contesting over 26 seats in Bihar

Ram Vilas Paswan, Lalu PrasadNew Delhi, Mar 20 : Ram Vilas Paswan and Lalu Prasad, leaders of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) respectively, held an emergency meeting on Thursday evening.

The meeting came after Congress that it might contest over 26 seats in the Lok Sabha polls from Bihar, where the RJD and the LJP have a seat-sharing arrangement.

Lalu Prasad YadavNew Delhi, Mar 17 : Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav faced revolt within his party on Tuesday when his brother-in-law, Sadhu Yadav, declared that he would contest from a seat left for Ram Vilas Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (LJP).

Sadhu’s challenge came after the RJD announced a seat-sharing deal with the LJP in Bihar on Tuesday morning, where his name did not figure in the list of nominees.

Sadhu lashed out at Lalu and said he would declare his future strategy later.

Out of the 40 seats, the RJD will contest 25 seats and the LJP will contest 12 seats. The remaining three seats have been left for the Congress.

Lalu flags off a train to ShirdiShirdi, Mar 1: Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav flagged off a train to the holy pilgrimage spot of Shirdi on Saturday.

There was no rail link to Shirdi and the pilgrims used to reach the shrine by road. The new broad gauge line will provide connectivity to this revered shrine from all parts of the country.

Yadav, who also visited the shrine, said a large number of devotees irrespective of their faith, pay homage to the seer. The new line, originating from Puntamba on Daund-Manmad route will provide direct rail link to Shirdi from all parts of the country.
