New Delhi, Mar 20 : Ram Vilas Paswan and Lalu Prasad, leaders of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) respectively, held an emergency meeting on Thursday evening.

The meeting came after Congress that it might contest over 26 seats in the Lok Sabha polls from Bihar, where the RJD and the LJP have a seat-sharing arrangement.

Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Paswan said, "I''m very sure that none of the members of the UPA will do anything which would give a lead to the NDA. Sonia Gandhi would not do any such thing which would harm the UPA and benefit the NDA," said Paswan.

The announcement by the Congress came two days after the RJD and the LJP announced their seat sharing accord.

According to the seat-sharing arrangement, the RJD will contest 25 seats, and the LJP will contest 12 out of the 40 seats. Three seats have been left for the Congress.

Both parties had said they would fight together in Jharkhand too.

In the last elections, the RJD, the Congress and the LJP had contested under a pre-poll agreement in which the Communist Party of India and the Nationalist Congress Party were also a part.

Of the four constituencies from where it had contested in 2004, Congress had won Aurangabad, Madhubani and Sasaram seats. (ANI)
