Describing it as a “tsunami”, Lalu said that the exact estimate of loss of life and property would be made once the water recedes down.

Yadav is likely to seek Nepal’s cooperation in solving the flood problem, which has hit both the countries.

He will meet President Dr. Rambaran Yadav and Prime Minister Prachanda.

Yadav had stated that the Bihar Government was negligent in dealing with flood problem.

Lalu lambastes Bihar Govt for laxity in relief measures

Patna, Sept 2 : Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on Tuesday lambasted the Bihar Government for laxity in providing relief to the flood victims.

Addressing media here, Lalu Yadav said the Cemtral Government is committed to bail out the people of the flood affected regions from the crisis.

Army intensifies rescue work in flood-affected areas of Bihar

Lalu Prasad YadavNew Delhi, Sep 1 : The Army today intensified its ongoing rescue work in flood hit areas of Bihar, and rushed 16 additional columns of men to join relief efforts.

Central Army Commander Lt General H S Panag, who is supervising the operations, said: “Another 16 columns of men have been sent to areas affected by the floods in River Kosi.”

The Army also pressed into service six helicopters -- four Cheetahs and two Dhruvs -- for rescuing people marooned in areas inaccessible by road or by boat. Twenty one columns are already deployed for rescue and relief work.

Lalu Prasad YadavAraria (Bihar), August 26 : Union Railways Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on Tuesday sought assistance from the Central Government for Bihar that has been badly hit by floods.

He met Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in New Delhi and sought assistance by way of Air Force helicopters to be pressed into the service.
