Advani reschedules Mumbai visit, likely to go with PM

Leader of Opposition Lal Krishan AdvaniNew Delhi, Nov. 27: Leader of Opposition Lal Krishan Advani is likely to accompany Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to Mumbai on Friday to assess the situation prevailing in that city in the wake of Wednesday''s terror strikes that have killed 101 people and injured 287 others.

Advani was originally slated to leave for Mumbai at 10.30 a. m. today, but rescheduled it after Dr. Singh called him and requested him to join him.

The two leaders'' visit is expected to take place only after the ongoing encounter against terrorists holed up in various spots concludes.

L K Advani, Manmohan SinghIndore, Nov. 24 : Addressing a press conference here on Monday, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L K Advani described Prime Minister Manmohan Singh''''s proposal for a task force to counter terrorism within a deadline of 100 days as "distressing" and demanded that the Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) be revived instead.

"Manmohan Singh took over as prime minister in May 2004 and after so many days, he is talking about a 100-day roadmap," Advani said.

Malhotra has been pitched against ruling congress Chief Minister of New Delhi Shiela Dikshit.

Five states including Delhi are going to polls during November and December to elect new Assemblies.

Advani on the occasion said that his party has always been technologically advanced.

Addressing a public function organised by the Ghaziabad unit of the BJP at the party headquarters here, Advani said: "I will appeal you all to elect Rajnath Singh to Parliament with a record margin. It is not one person''s contest. He is the party head and his victory would be a reflection of party''s winning streak."
