Washington, Sept. 8 : Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama has said that there was a time when he wanted to join the United States military, but decided not to because the Vietnam war was over and "we weren''t engaged in an active military conflict at that point".

This is the first time during the 19-month-long presidential campaign that Obama has revealed his desire to serve in uniform. The aspiration was not mentioned in either of his two volumes of memoirs, reports The Telegraph.

Washington, Sept 6 : Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has said that if he one this year’s presidential poll, he would increase pressure on Pakistan in the hunt for Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden.

He also said that he would ask Pakistan to “do more” in the US-led global war-on-terror.

“What we can do is stay focused on Afghanistan and put more pressure on the Pakistanis,” the Daily Times quoted Obama as saying in a TV interview.

Obama also vowed to be tough on the nation’s enemies, including Iran, added the paper.
