London, Sept 10: A new survey conducted in 22 countries has found that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama was more preferred to his Republican rival John McCain.

Conducted by the BBC World Service, the poll found that the most common view that emerged from different countries was that Obama should win the November poll. A total of 22,500 were interviewed during the survey.

London, Sept 10 : Thanks to a “naïve mistake” by a junior Labour Party official, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has landed in a soup for apparently “backing” Democratic candidate Barack Obama ahead of the US presidential elections in November.

In an article written by the Labour official in Brown’s name, heaps of praise have been showered on Obama, and the Democrats’ policy of “generating the ideas to help people through more difficult times” has been hailed.

The article, however, doesn’t mention anything about McCain or his proposed policies.

New York, Sept. 9 : Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama seems to have wrapped up the Catholic vote, according to Robert Kennedy’s daughter, Kelly.

"Certainly, Catholic voters will be key in this election. I think they are responding to the vision of hope that Barack Obama articulates," said Kennedy, who founded the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Center for Human Rights in honor of her late father.

"Catholics want what other Americans want: access to health care and jobs that pay a living wage. They want to send their kids to good schools. They want something done about poverty. This is the central message of the Obama-Biden campaign," the New York Daily News quoted her, as saying.

Washington, Sept. 9 : Barack Obama verbal “My Muslim Faith” gaffe during a weekend television interview, has been described by his campaign as being just a gaffe and nothing else.

Obama gave that interview on Sunday with ABC’s “This Week” host George Stephanopoulos.

Asked whether Obama’s misstatement will continue to fuel rumors of his faith, allegiances or patriotism, the Obama campaign responded that it is clear after watching the interview that the senator was cut off by Stephanopoulos before he could self-correct.

Spokesman Ben LaBolt repeated that rumors Obama is Muslim are unfounded.

Washington, Sep 9 : Republican presidential nominee John McCain leads Democratic rival Barack Obama 46 percent to 44 percent in the latest CBS News poll, conducted three days after the completion of the parties’ nominating conventions.

The poll marks the first time that McCain, whose two-point lead is within the poll’s margin of error, has led Obama in CBS News general election polling.
