Washington, Nov 15 : President elect Barack Obama has won one of Nebraska’s electoral votes, making history in a state that has never split its electoral votes.

CBS News reported that Obama now has a total of 365 electoral votes to McCain’s 162.

After all remaining ballots were counted on Friday; Obama emerged with a 3,325-vote lead over McCain in unofficial results in the 2nd Congressional District. The district covers Douglas County, which includes Omaha, and portions of adjacent Sarpy County.

New York, Nov 15 : Senator Hillary Clinton has dodged rumours about taking the Secretary of State position in President elect Barack Obama’s incoming team, and said that she is not going to speculate over the incoming Obama Admiistration.

“I’m not going to speculate or address anything about the president-elect’s incoming administration, and I’m going to respect his process,” Hillary said.

“And any inquiries should be directed to his transition team,” the New York Senator added.

Washington - The current economic crisis may have presented several challenges, but it also presents the United States with the opportunity to fix long-term problems, President-elect Barack Obama said in a radio address Saturday.

He was not attending the G20 summit but said he was glad President George W Bush had initiated the process "because our global economic crisis requires a coordinated global response."

Washington, Nov. 15 : Security and intelligence officials in Britain have endorsed the views of their American counterparts vis-à-vis the huge threat that al Qaeda poses to the incoming Barack Obama administration.

According to The Times, there is genuine concern within the British security and intelligence apparatus that alQaeda will attempt a “spectacular” in the transition period, but they suggest that it may be aimed more at George W. Bush than Obama.

Washington, Nov 15 : After assuming office, President elect Barack Obama wants to close the prison facility for terror suspects at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba. But, if it’s shut down, what will the government do with all those detainees?

CBS reported that the president-elect’s transition team has already asked the Pentagon what it would take to move the prisoners out of Guantanamo to the Navy base at Charleston, S. C.

It’s a clear sign that the new president intends to make good on one of his most emphatic campaign promises.
