Gun sales shot up in US

Obama Goes to Church on Father's DayNew York, Nov 18 : The gun sales have shot in the United States as Americans fear that the Barack Obama Administration will bring stiffer rules for possessing fire arms.

During election week, the FBI did 374,510 background checks on prospective gun owners, compared with 251,804 in the same week last year. Last month, the G-men did checks on 285,894 people buying handguns, compared with 223,141 in October 2007.

“It is a significant jump,” the Daily News quoted special agent Jason Pack, as saying.

Cheeky bid being made to invite Obama to North Queensland

Barack ObamaMelbourne, Nov. 18 : A cheeky bid has been launched to lure US president-elect Barack Obama to Port Douglas'' famed Four Mile Beach in North Queensland.

Port Douglas Daintree Tourism boss Doug Ryan said letters and emails inviting the charismatic Obama to the Far North had been sent this week and he was hopeful of soon receiving a positive answer.

When The Cairns Post called, Ryan was meeting with representatives of the Sheraton Mirage to finalise an accommodation package.

"We are serious, you do not send a letter and an email to the White House if you are not," Ryan said.

Obama’s barber denies campaign stress has left him greyer

"It''s just a normal thing," Us magazine quoted Zariff, who has been cutting Obama’s hair for 14 years, as saying.

"It''s not like he has a head full of gray hair. It''s just a few gray hairs, so it''s nothing to get excited about," the barber added.
