Top Taliban commander splits from Mehsud

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan commander Baitullah MehsudLahore, Oct 19 : Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan commander Baitullah Mehsud’s opponent faction in North Waziristan has announced the creation of a new parallel organisation, the Muqami Tehreek-e-Taliban or local Taliban, effectively splitting from TTP.

Top commander and former Mehsud lieutenant, Hafiz Gul Bahadar, made the announcement on Friday, the Daily Times reported.

Peshawar, Oct 4 : Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan chief Baitullah MehsudTehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Baitullah Mehsud was accorded warm welcome by people of his tribe when he appeared in a remote village of South Waziristan Agency (SWA), quashing media reports about his death.

Armed men from Mehsud tribe and local Taliban fired shots from rocket launchers and automatic weapons as Baitullah appeared in a small village ‘Saam’ to nullify his death reports, The News quoted witnesses, as saying.

The TTP leader was presented a traditional turban and garland, they said.

The sources said Baitullah Mehsud, who is suffering from high level of diabetes, had once again suffered a serious attack, causing a lot of concerns among the TTP leaders.

“This time also he seems to have gone into coma,” The News quoted the sources, as saying.

Baitullah Mehsud sets up parallel judicial system in South Waziristan

Peshawar, Aug 17 : Pakistan Taliban commander Baitullah Mehsud on Saturday issued a decree, setting up a parallel judicial and dispute arbitration system in South Waziristan.

Pamphlets, carrying orders of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan chief about the new set-up, were distributed in Tank, Jandola and other Mehsud-dominated areas, the Dawn reports.

According to the pamphlet, Mohammad Raees Mehsud will head the central committee, comprising Raees Mehsud, Maulvi Azmatullah, Maulvi Ikramullah, Maulvi Abdul Wahab and Haleem Khan. Mohammad Raees will also be in-charge of the new system.
