SP-Congress alliance at breaking pointNew Delhi, Mar 6 : Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh on Friday declared that the party's alliance with the Congress was `broken' and he could not offer more than 17 seats in Uttar Pradesh to the latter.

"I do not want to use any harsh words, but the alliance is broken. The obituary of the alliance was written the day Congress had announced its list of 24 candidates in Uttar Pradesh. We cannot offer more than 17 seats to the Congress," Amar Singh told reporters here.

Amar Singh appears before court in a two-year-old cheating caseNew Delhi, Feb 26 : Samajwadi Party (SP) General Secretary Amar Singh appeared before a Delhi court on Thursday, minutes after a bailable warrant was issued against him for not presenting himself in connection with a criminal complaint filed by him in a two-year-old cheating case.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaweri Baweja issued a bailable warrant for Rs. 10,000 against Singh but the order was recalled when the SP leader personally appeared before the court after ten minutes.

"It is stated by the counsel for the complainant that the matter be adjourned for tomorrow. Time and again, opportunity has been given to the complainant, but he has failed to appear in the court. Today, no application was filed, neither any reasonable ground has been mentioned," the court said here on Wednesday.

amar singh, MulayamNew Delhi, Feb. 10,: Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh on Tuesday attacked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for its report into the disproportionate assets case against former Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, and said it contained 288 mistakes.

Singh also demanded a judicial inquiry to find out how these mistakes had occurred in the third status report of CBI.

"The CBI''s status report to the Supreme Court in the case has 288 mistakes. Not one, two or three, it has 288 mistakes," Singh said.
