Palestinian shot and killed east of Gaza City

Gaza City  - Israeli military snipers shot and killed a Palestinian during an army incursion east of Gaza City early Friday, according to the official Voice of Palestine radio.

Another 10 Palestinians were injured when a jet fighter targeted a security force building in Beit Lahiya, north of the Gaza Strip, early Friday, said the radio.

The radio said an Israeli army force entered the Gaza Strip and was conducting a wide-scale operation in that area. An army sniper shot and killed a Palestinian whose identity remained unknown as Palestinian medical units were not able to retrieve his body because of the army operation.

An Israeli jet fighter fired a missile at a building used by security forces loyal to the ruling Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip. The building was destroyed in total and 10 security force members were injured, said the radio quoting medical sources.

The escalation comes as an Israeli was killed on Thursday when a homemade missile fired from the Gaza Strip hit an Israeli town north of the Gaza Strip.

Israeli officials have threatened to attack Gaza in response to the firing of missiles. (dpa)
