Oz Test legend Doug Walters wants Smith to be more daring as captain

Steve SmithSydney, Jan 08 - Former Australian Test star Doug Walters has insisted that current skipper Steve Smith is almost foolproof and has a great determination, but wants to see more daring from him as a captain.

Smith knock of 117 runs on the second day of the fourth Test against India at the SCG was the skipper's fourth century of the series. The batsman joined Walters, Neil Harvey and Don Bradman on the list of Australians to have achieved the feat.

Smith is also the first man in cricket history to score centuries in his first three Tests as captain, News.com.au reported.

Walters claimed that Smith is almost foolproof, adding that the skipper has a great defence and great determination, but he just hopes that they see a little bit of that sort of stuff in Smith's leadership and he is sure they would before the SCG Test is finished.

Walters said that he is sure they would see a little bit more daring from Smith than what they have seen up until now. He added that one cannot blame the skipper much in his first two Tests for not being all that cavalier in his approach.

The former big-hitting batsman said that one doesn't want to lose their second Test match as captain, so he can understand Smith being a little bit conservative. (ANI)
