Oracle announces quarterly updates for Solaris
Oracle has decided to update its Solaris suite of products on quarterly basis. The products are expected to be moved onto Oracle's quarterly Critical Patch Update cycle.
By this update, the users of the Sun Microsystems products can now know in advance whether their systems need patching. Quarterly update can provide information of patches to its users a month early.
Oracle has informed that this quarter patch update will be scheduled soon. It has been expected that by the month of April this year, the Critical Patch Update may be included security vulnerabilities in Sun Solaris.
Oracle has number of products in its product-line. But out of those 47 new security vulnerability fixes are going to come under the Critical Patch Update.
16 from them are from Sun Solaris. Out of these 16 security fixes, 8 may be updated without any authentication. That means it can be operated without any network user name and password.
However, the list of the affected Oracle Solaris Suite products includes Solaris, Sun Cluster and Sun Convergence.
