Obama's campaign raised 52 million dollars in June
Washington - The presidential campaign for Democrat Barack Obama reported Thursday it raised 52 million dollars in June, easily outpacing Republican opponent John McCain in the crucial fundraising effort for the November 4 election.
The Obama campaign combined with the Democratic National Committee finished June with 92 million dollars in the bank, slightly below the 95-million-dollar total between McCain and the Republican National Committee.
Since entering the presidential race last year, Obama has raised a stunning 337 million dollars. Most of that money was spent in the drawn-out effort to defeat Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination.
McCain's total through June since entering the race is at about 90 million dollars. The Obama campaign said average amount per donor was 68 dollars. (dpa)
