North Korea scraps all accords with South Korea
Seoul - North Korea Friday declared all political an military accords with South Korea void, saying Seoul was pushing relations "to the brink of war."
Pyongyang's Committee for the Peaceful Reunification accused the conservative government of South Korean President Lee Myung-bak of raising tensions on the Korean peninsula.
There was no further way to improve relations, the committee was quoted as saying by the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
All past agreements on ending "political and military confrontation" were "dead," the committee, which is in charge of inter-Korean relations, was quoted as saying.
"The group of traitors has already reduced all the agreements reached between the north and the south in the past to dead documents," the statement said.
Tensions between the two neighbours mounted since Lee took office almost one year ago, adopting a tougher stance against Pyongyang. (dpa)
