New Delhi, Dec 16 : Defence Minister A K Antony today ruled out taking any military action against Pakistan, and said that Islamabad will have to act against militants involved in the Mumbai terror attacks to normalise relations with New Delhi.

Several reports appearing in media suggested that India was preparing for "air strikes" against terror camps in Pakistan immediately after the 26/11-terror assault in Mumbai. Defence ministry officials, however, refused to react to the speculative reports.

The US promptly urged India to exercise restraint after concluding that the preliminary preparations would have placed India in a position to launch strikes inside Pakistan.

"Pakistan will have to take action against terrorists involved in the Mumbai attacks for the relations between the two countries to be normal," Antony said after the wreath laying ceremony here at Amar Jawan Jyoti, India Gate on the occasion of Vijay Diwas.

The three service chiefs were also present on the occasion alongwith the Defence Minister to mark India's victory against Pakistan in the 1971 war, which saw the birth of Bangladesh.

Vijay Diwas (Victory Day) is celebrated on December 16 every year, and in Bangladesh, it is commemorated as Victory Day.

Meanwhile, the British request to question suspects arrested in connection with the Mumbai attacks has been turned down by Pakistan.

In the wake of the attacks on Mumbai, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown visited New Delhi and Islamabad at the weekend in a bid to calm tensions between the two neighbours. (ANI)
