Nokia Star Screen Awards: ‘Jodha Akbar’ Best Film, ‘Hrithik’ Best Actor!
Last year's runaway hit "Jodha Akbar" dominated the Indian Express Group's Nokia Star Screen Awards with the movie bagging honours including those for Best Actor, Best Director and Best Film. It was truly a nail-biting climax for the who’s who of the Hindi film industry as well as cine lovers on Wednesday night.
Superstar Hrithik Roshan, who played the role of Akbar in the film, walked away with the Best Actor award while Ashutosh Gowarikar was adjudged the Best Director.
Veteran music director A.R. Rahman bagged the best music director award for "Jodhaa Akbar".
The glittering ceremony, was interspersed with electrifying performances from Bipasha Basu, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif.
The award for the best female actor was given to the hard-working actress Priyanka Chopra for her role in Madhur Bhandarkar's Fashion.
In Fashion, PC played the role of a courageous girl who rises to the changing heights of a supermodel on her own steam.
While, for his appealing performance in “Singh is Kingg”, Akshay Kumar was given the most popular actor award. However, on his behalf, Akki presented the award to Aamir Khan. He said, “It's Aamir Khan deserving this award for his fantabulous performance in ‘Ghajini’. This award is for Aamir, me and my people”.
Arjun Rampal and Shahana Goswami won awards in the Best Supporting Actor category for their performances in "Rock On”. Akshaye Khanna got best actor in a negative role for "Race" and Tusshar Kapoor for best actor in a comic role for "Golmaal Returns".
Farhan Akhtar and Asin Thattumkal won honours for their debut performances.
Noted lyricist Anvita Dutt Guptan won the Best Lyrics award.
The Nokia Star Screen awards also honoured yesteryear actor-producer-director Sanjay Khan with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
