Moscow, Jan 14: Some 75 people were evacuated from cable cars after a tree fell on a line at an alpine ski resort in Russia's Sochi city.

The incident occurred on a gondola line at the 2014 Winter Olympics resort of Rosa Khutor Alpine Resort. No one was injured in the incident, according to rescuers.

A total of 84 people participated in the rescue effort, lasting for two hours, a spokesperson said.

Los Angeles, Jan 14 : Actor-filmmaker Ben Affleck walked away with the best director motion picture trophy at the 70th edition of the prestigious Golden Globe awards here for his film "Argo".

The thriller, which also features Affleck in a key role, narrates a rescue operation of US diplomats from Tehran during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis.

Kolkata, Jan 14 : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee might be a crowd puller as a politician, but this time it's the painter in her that attracts people, even though her works vie for attention with those of masters like Jamini Roy and Rabindranath Tagore.

The city is currently hosting two painting exhibitions - one by Banerjee at the historic Townhall; the other by Roy, among the most celebrated artists of modern India, and the Tagores, including Abanindranath, founder of the Bengal school of art.

Bangalore, Jan 13 : Sri Balagangadharanatha Swami, an influential pontiff with large following in Karnataka, mainly from the Vokkaliga community, died here late Sunday after a brief illness, said doctors.

The 68-year old Swami was admitted to BGS (Balagangadharanatha Swami) Global Hospital here Saturday after he complained of chest pain. He was also suffering from heart disease and kidney problem and passed away Sunday, Venkataramana Gowda, a doctor and the hospital spokesperson told reporters.

Los Angeles, Jan 14 : The Kardashian sisters - Kim, Kourtney and Khloe - are being sued for $10 million by make-up artist Lee Tillett who claims they stole the name of their new cosmetics range, Khroma Beauty, from her.

Tillett is also asking for damages from Boldface Group Inc, the company that markets their line, after a cease-and-desist letter sent in July last year imploring them to stop using the name failed to work.

"I developed the Kroma line myself, built my business through my own hard work and took the legal steps necessary to protect it," showbizspy. com quoted Tillett as saying.

Los Angeles, Jan 14 : Fitness freak singer Katy Perry, who finds it hard to work out while on tour, goes for cycling in disguise whenever she is in a new town.

"Constantly travelling can make it hard to exercise, but my favourite workout to do on tour is to ride around the town or city I am visiting on my bike," contactmusic. com quoted Perry as saying.

"I love to explore a new city in disguise and hand out tickets to my show," she added.

She also likes to get on the exercise bike in the gym and regularly attends a special spinning class, where participants are motivated by music.
