PMO sets deadlines for key infrastructure projectsThe Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Thursday for various steps to implement key infrastructure projects, with an aim to accelerate the process of infrastructure development in the country.

The list of planned infrastructure projects includes cover sectors like highway, railway, port, airport and power.

The deadlines for the implementation of the projects were set at the first meeting of the steering group appointed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to step up infrastructure investment.

SBT operating profit up 24 percentThiruvananthapuram, July 26 : State Bank of Travancore (SBT) logged a 24 percent growth in operating profit in the first quarter of this fiscal over the like period in the last financial year.

In a statement, the bank Friday said the operating profit touched Rs. 419 crore in the first quarter of this fiscal. It was Rs. 340 crore in the same period in the last fiscal.

CESC to delist from London Stock Exchange

CESC to delist from London Stock ExchangeKolkata, July 26 : RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group flagship company CESC Friday decided to delist its equity shares from the London Stock Exchange.

The company at its annual general meeting here secured the shareholders' approval for this. Group chairman Sanjiv Goenka attributed "very low dealings in the shares in recent years" as the reason behind the decision.

The company reported 4.8 percent rise in net profit at Rs. 131 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2013 as against the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.

New satellite to improve weather forecast

"This is a big step and will certainly improve our forecasting system," Shailesh Nayak, secretary, union ministry of earth sciences, told reporters here.

Insat-3D was launched early Friday onboard Ariane-5 rocket from Kourou in French Guiana off the Pacific coast.
