Manipal, August 1 : Long-term exposure to radiation at the workplace may play havoc with your sperm quality, says new research by Indian medical scientists.

A team of fertility experts, led by Manipal University professor of clinical embryology Satish Adiga, analysed sperm quality of 83 men working for three to 18 years in diagnostic or radiation units at various hospitals.

The results were compared with 51 men, also working in hospitals with a similar lifestyle but not exposed to radiation, US journal Public Library of Science ONE reports.

The U. S. Federal Reserve on Wednesday gave another indication that it would continue with its bond-buying stimulus program, even as the economy keeps on recovering.

Concluding its two-day gathering, the Federal Reserve said that it acknowledged the fact that the country's economy was recovering but added that it still needed support.

Lucknow, August 1 : The Uttar Pradesh government Thursday firmed up its stand on the suspension of IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal, with Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav saying the administration "is within its right to suspend any errant official".

Talking to reporters after a cabinet meeting, Yadav said a unilateral decision of the suspended officer could have led to communal trouble and government would in no way tolerate any such action that risks communal harmony in the state.

New Delhi, August 1 : Maruti Suzuki Thursday reported a 1.3 percent rise in its July sales at 83,299 units from 82,234 units sold in last year's corresponding period.

There was a sharp drop in exports. The company exported 8,154 units in July, a 27.3 percent drop from 11,210 units shipped overseas during the corresponding month of last year.

Domestic sales were up 5.8 percent to 75,145 units during the month under review from 71,024 units sold in July 2012.

Mini-car segment that includes M800, Alto, A-Star and WagonR grew 15.8 percent at 33,587 units from 28,998 units sold in the same month of 2012.
