The economists in the country were expecting the retail sales to rise around 0.4 per cent during the month.

International digital news company, IBT Media has said that it has reached an agreement to acquire Newsweek in an agreement with IAC.

Newsweek has been in circulation for more than eight decades and had move to the digital only platform in association with the Daily Beast at the beginning of this year. Barry Diller, chairman and senior executive of IAC had said that he regrets the decision to acquire the title in 2007. According to media reports, the deal is expected to close in the coming days.

New Delhi, Aug 5 : Cricketing star Sachin Tendulkar stole the limelight on the first day of parliament's monsoon session, as he arrived here to attend the Rajya Sabha.

Wearing a blue striped shirt and black trousers, Tendulkar walked in with Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajeev Shukla well before the house was called to order.

Tendulkar, who was nominated to the upper house in April last year, along with actress Rekha and businesswoman Anu Aga, attended the upper house for the second time Monday. He has so far only one attendance marked -- that, too, in the monsoon session of 2012.

Mumbai, Aug 5 : Watching Akshay Kumar in a promo of "Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara!" reminded Hollywood superstar Al Pacino of his own blockbuster "The Godfather".

Akshay is glad that a person of his stature noticed his film.

"He appreciated the whole film and said that the film reminded him of his own film 'Godfather'. It feels good that such a big star talks about our film and it's a big thing for our industry," the 44-year-old said here at the launch of the third promo of the film.

New Delhi, Aug 5 : The Supreme Court Monday dismissed a PIL seeking quashing of 10 percent disinvestment of Coal India Limited in 2010 as the non-disclosure of actual coal reserves of 124 billion tonnes caused a loss of Rs. 1.7 lakh crore to the exchequer.

Dismissing the petition by one Ehsan Khalid, the apex court bench headed by Justice R. M. Lodha said the court would not invoke its power of judicial review unless the disinvestment policy was non-transparent and arbitrary.
