British distiller Diageo Plc gained Indian capital market regulator Sebi's approval for its open offer for buying a stake Vijay Mallya's Pioneer Distilleries.

Under the proposal, which is part of the Diageo-United Spirits Ltd deal, the British distiller will acquire shares worth Rs 15.78 crore of Pioneer Distilleries.

Moscow, Aug 20 : Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova has planned to change her last name into Sugarpova temporarily to promote her candy brand.

Sharapova has applied to the Supreme Court of Florida, in the United State, for the two-week name change during the upcoming US Open tournament as a way to draw more attention to her sweets line.

Besides necessary legal procedures, the top athlete should also get approval of the US Open organisers to make her new name displayed during the tournament, reports Xinhua.

Mary Portas, a leading retail expert appointed by David Cameron two years ago for reviewing UK’s town centres, has criticised the government for its lack of clarity on the matter.

The US Justice Department has launched a new investigation against J. P. Morgan Chase over its energy sector dealings.

The move comes as the bank already faces several legal challenges from regulators. J. P. Morgan has agreed to pay $410 million to settle allegations raised by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission that the bank was involved in manipulating markets in California and the Midwest. The nation's largest bank by assets did not admit any wrong doing.
