Moscow : Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday shrugged off the negative impact of Western sanctions, saying they will only encourage Russia to build closer ties with China, India and Latin America.

Speaking at an investment forum, Putin described the sanctions as "utter silliness" that hurt Western business and offered an opportunity for others to expand in the Russian market.

Putin said the sanctions, imposed by the United States, the European Union and others over Russia's role in the Ukrainian crisis, violated basic principles of the World Trade Organisation and inflicted lasting damage to the global economy.

Hyderabad : Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni said his side played a "complete game" to beat Kings XI Punjab and enter the Champions League T20 final here on Thursday.

"Overall I think it was a complete game for us," said Dhoni after Chennai beat Punjab by 65 runs to enter the CLT20 final for the second time.

"I think Faf's (du Plessis) innings was very crucial along with Bravo (Dwayne). Faf was rotating very well and he eased the pressure off Bravo," he said of Bravo and du Plessis who smashed 67 and 46 runs respectively.

Washington, Oct 2 : 'Dracula Untold' star Dominic Cooper reacted to former girlfriend Amanda Seyfried's recent comments, and said that he would be a "very caring" partner.

London, Oct. 2 - Danny Welbeck's hat-trick of goals on Wednesday helped Arsenal FC to swamp Galatasaray 4-1 in a UEFA Champions League encounter at the Emirates Stadium.

Welbeck scored his three goals in the 22, 30 and 52 minutes of the game. Arsenal's fourth goal came courtesy Alexis Sanchez in the 41st minute.

For Galatasaray, the lone goal was scored through a penalty by Burak Yilmaz in the 63rd minute of the match, reports the BBC.

Wednesday's win came on Arsene Wenger's 18th anniversary as boss of Arsenal FC.

The win was Arsenal's first in this year's Champions League and means they have three points in Group D.
